Racial Map of Europe, The Literary Digest, 1925 Atlas of the World and Gazetteer.  1925 is 7 years after the Armistice of World War I & following Versailles *Peace* Conference.

Further below, you can see how this area was part of Austria-Hungary.

After the European armies, under German leadership, had checked the Turkish invasions of Europe in the 17th & 18th centuries, my ancestors, from Swabia, northwest of Munich, settled an area devastated by these wars.  These Swabians became known as the Danube Swabians.

Marienfeld

[ Rom.:Teremia-Mare ]

I come from Marienfeld, known as Teremia-Mare in Romanian.

When I was 21 years old, in 1940, I journeyed to Vienna, and was selected to be in the Waffen SS, first stationed in Hamburg, Germania Regiment.  I fought on the Eastern Front for three years and was wounded six times.

The map at left and below is of Austria-Hungary, from the 1911 Encyclopaedia Britannica.
